Background and context
The Hardy–Weinberg principle is also called as the Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium, model, theorem, or law. According to this principle, in the absence of evolutionary influences, the frequencies of allele and genotype in a population will remain constant from generation to generation. Therefore, sometimes it is also known as neutral equilibrium.
