Background and context

Amniotes diverged into three groups which are synapsids, anapsids, and diapsids. In the Permian period, Synapsids group includes the mammals like reptiles. Anapsids group includes turtles whereas the diapsids group includes birds and all living and extinct reptiles in it too. In Mesozoic period, diapsids diverged.
