Background and context
Arthropod includes around 80% of the creatures that cover under the kingdom Animalia. Crustaceans have their unique characteristics that is different from other arthropods. Crustaceans derived form a large and diverse arthropod taxon that includes crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimp, krill, woodlice, and barnacles. A crustacean has the following features:
- a segmented body with cover a hard exterior (known as an exoskeleton)
- jointed limbs and with two branches in each (termed biramous)
- two pairs of antennae
- gills
