Introduction

The consumption function depicts the relationship between income and consumption. A person consumes a proportion of his income and saves the rest. How much a person spends on goods and services out of his/her total income is captured by his/her consumption function. The consumption function tells us the positive relationship between the level of income and the level of consumption expenditure. As income increases, consumption also increases.
