Background and context

The central dogma of molecular biology was put forth by Francis Crick. He was the co-discoverer of the structure of DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid). According to central dogma, the DNA would be converted to RNA (Ribonucleic acid) which is called transcription and the RNA would be converted into proteins which is the translation.
