Background and context

Cardiomyocytes are the heart muscle cells. They are tubular in shape with one nucleus called uninucleate cells. These cells make the muscular walls of the heart chambers atrium and ventricles and hence help in generating contractile force so that blood can be pumped out of the chambers.
