Background and context
The backcross is the cross between F1 with any of the true-breeding parents. If the cross is between F1 progeny and homozygous dominant parent, then it is dominant backcross. If the cross is between an F1 hybrid with a recessive parent, then it is a recessive backcross. The recessive backcross is otherwise termed as a test cross.
