Background and context

Mutations lead to change in the gene sequence such that the proteins produced by this modified sequence are either non-functional or hyper-functional. Mutation in the proteins associated with the cell division cycle can disturb the cycle or arrest the cycle in any phase. Several drugs or radiation can cause these mutations.
