Background and context

G₀(Gap0 phase occurs after the cytokinesis stage of cell division is completed. Generally, a cell enters the G₁ (Gap1) phase after the cytokinesis process but if the cell does not want to divide further or is stimulated to avoid the cell division process then it enters the G₀ phase. G₀ phase can also be described as the resting phase or quiescent stage.
