Background and context

The primary function of the lens is to help in focusing the light on the region of the fovea centralis and retina. The lens is considered dynamic as it tends to focus and refocus the light as the eyes rest on nearby and distant objects in the field of vision. These lenses are operated by muscles that are involved in stretching it flat or allowing it to thicken, changing the light's focal length that is coming via it to focus it sharply on the region of the retina.
