Background and context

Gametes are known as germ cells and are confined to the reproductive system of individuals whereas the somatic cells are present all over the body. Gametes and somatic cells are very different cellular structures. The differences between the cells lie due to the vast difference in their functions, even though they contain the same genetic material.
