Background and context

Mechanoreceptors are described as the receptors that tend to perceive different sensations including vibrations, pressure, and texture. There are about 4 familiar types of mechanoreceptors whose only role is to perceive vibrations and indention of the skin. They are namely Meissner’s corpuscles, Merkel’s disks, Pacinian corpuscles, and Ruffini’s corpuscles.
