Given information

Two different compounds containing osmium and oxygen have the following masses of oxygen per gram of osmium: and

Step-by-step explanation

Step 1.

The law of multiple proportions says that if two compounds have the same type of elements and the amount of one element is the same then the other element's ratio will be in the whole number.

In simple words, find the ratio of oxygen masses in both compounds.

The mass ratio is calculated by dividing the mass of oxygen per gram of osmium from compound second and the mass of oxygen per gram of osmium from compound second.
