Background and context

The intertidal zone also known as the littoral zone or foreshore. It is the area above the water at low tide and under the water at high tide. There are many habitats surviving in this zone. In other words, we can say that an area of marine shoreline which is exposed to air at low tide and is covered with seawater when the tide is high is termed as intertidal zone.
