In the kingdom Plantae, the seed-bearing plants are differentiated as angiosperms and gymnosperms. The gymnosperms lack flowers and also the seed coat. So they produce naked seeds in the female cone. But the angiosperms have fruit and flowers which eventually leads to the formation of the seed coat.
