Background and context

Biomolecules are the molecules or chemicals present in living organisms. Carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids are organic biomolecules. Carbohydrates are organic molecules containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Proteins are polymers of amino acids. Lastly, nucleic acids are formed by the polymerization of repeated units called nucleotides.
