Background and context

Aquaporins or water channels are integral proteins of the intrinsic proteins which form pores in the biological membranes to facilitate water transport between the cells. They mainly function as water plumbing systems in the cells.

Potassium channels are ion channels forming potassium-selective pores spanning across the cell membranes allowing the selective flow of the potassium ions across the cell membrane.
