Background and context
Bryophytes are also known as the amphibians of the plant kingdom. These plants do not have vascular bundles but have differentiated roots, shoots, and leaves. Examples include liverworts and mosses. The gametophyte is the haploid stage during the life cycle of a plant while the sporophyte is the diploid stage during the life cycle.
