Background and context
The energy within the living organisms is provided in the form of ATP. The food consumed by organisms is broken down into simpler forms and during this process, energy is released in form of ATP. The release of energy through the breaking down of carbohydrates is known as cellular respiration. The process includes three stages, glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and electron transport chain.
