Background and context

A lysosome is actually a cell organelle having a membrane that contains digestive enzymes and serves many functions. Lysosomes are even involved in a lot of cell processes. They break down any type of worn out or damaged cell parts. They are of great importance in destroying the invading viruses and bacteria. It can cause  apoptosis or programmed cell death when a cell stops functioning normally.
