After fertilization of sperm cell with that of the ovary of the flower, fruit development occurs.  There are different types of fruits based on their origin. Fruits can be derived from a simple ovary to develop into simple fruit, or from the accessory parts of the flower to form a accessory fruit. The fruit encloses the seeds and the developing embryo, thereby providing it with protection. Fruits may be classified as simple, aggregate, multiple, or accessory, depending on their origin.
