Document Summary

Matrix is a rectangular array or a collection of real numbers and then enclosed by brackets []. [2 56 9] or [9 01 3] are examples of matrices. In matrix horizontally represented entries are called rows. In a matrix entries which are represented in a vertical way are called columns. In above matrix (2 6 8), (9 4 7), (3 1 0) are rows of matrix. In above matrix (293) , (641),(870) are columns of matrix. If a matrix has m number of rows and n number of columns, then order of matrix will be m- by- n. This matrix has 3 rows, and three columns therefore order of matrix is. If a matrix has only one row it is called row matrix. A matrix is said to be a column matrix it has only one column. A matrix is called a rectangular matrix if its number of rows is not equal to number of its columns.
