The battle of cowpens was a strategic battle fought between the british army and the. On january 17th, 1781 general daniel morgan led his troops to victory against the british forces, led by colonel banastre. American general"s part, position his troops in just the right spot to be able to take out many of the enemies, while minimizing his own men"s casualties. He had his men in between two pea fields which gave them protection from both side because the fields were too dense to march through. Morgan set up his men so that the front line (which was composed of countrymen) would fire two volleys, and then retreat behind the line of more advanced fighters behind them. In between these two rows he had some rifle men whose guns had a further range and were more accurate than those of the british.
