Engineering Science 1050 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Customer Satisfaction, New York Post, Paradigm Shift
Design process has influence on: product quality, manufacturing cost and product cost earliest decisions have greatest effect on the final product cost. Need identification: customer satisfaction major drive of design, customer needs: non-technical, reflect their perception of the product, 2 major goals, keep product focused on customer needs, identify not just explicit needs but also latent needs of customer. Four step method: gather raw data from customers gather honest expression of needs. Indifferent quality do not affect customer satisfaction: reverse quality satisfaction is subjective, reflect on the process. Product design specification pds: a detailed summary of the design requirements to be met in order to produce a successful product or process. Section views shows interior features, avoid confusing hidden lines. Cutting planes lines of sight are perpendicular to cutting lines: section views are parallel to cutting plane, objects shown in true size, cut surface is cross-hatched.
