Ideas are tied to people and actions: dubois, double-consciousness and the veil pp. 126-130: we"re not one person, rather we"re constantly maintaining our many selves, when he was 10 years old he was rejected by a white girl, making him realize that he is different from others. He was shut out by a veil no true consciousness. Like a prison wall he cannot escape from. Rather, he was looking at himself through the eyes of others. Double consciousness (twoness): merge the double self into a true, better self.
