Just like driving a vehicle you need a license, unless you fall within one of the exceptions in the act, you have to be licensed in order to perform any engineering activity. Practices and policies aren"t over seen by the government but rather by the professional engineers of ontario (peo) which is made up of engineers. All of the issues of the profession are ministered by the peo. Under the act, the govern council of peo is given a little bit of law making power. The general regulation of the act is done by the peo. Three main functions of the peo: briefly explain licencing, discipline, enforcement. Main/principle objectives: regulate the practise of professional engineering, to govern its members, holders of coa and any of the 4 licences.
