Document Summary

Longitudinal study: follow the same group across time to determine age-related changes n thought and behaviour. > people drop out, move away, pass away tac Cross sectional studies: assess groups of different ages usually at same time. > don"t follow same people therefore not as accurate but can collect data quicker. Compares every score in a distribution to the mean. If average was 50 but most got 30/80 then large sd. *know how to get mean and range for exam. Use both methods for more accuracy, can have totally different numbers with same mean but different ranges. You can have an inaccurate bell curve (skewed right) > did worse than normal. Can be skewed left > higher than average. Statistics is a way of describing data. Results are statically signi cant when then probability that the nding are due to chance is very low. Very low means less than 5 chances in 100, which is 5 percent.
