Participant plus confederate (who posed as another participant) Task was to solve problems: some problems they had to do independently or collaboratively. Some participants were coerced by the confederate to collaborate when they weren"t supposed to be (supposed to do independently) They were then all interviewed by a third person who did not know which individual had collaborated and was guilty vs. the one that was innocent. Two conditions: innocent nothing happens, guilty induced by confederate to assist on independent problem. Answer similarity discovered" when (blind) researcher interrogates participants. In no tactic condition: they were told that they were guilty, lose all their credits and should confess: lowest amount of confessing. In explicit leniency: were given a lenient punishment to confess. Minimization: were told that they knew they were guilty but it was put in a way that it didn"t sound that bad. Both minimization and explicit leniency condition: highest rate of confessing.
