They lost 81-58: how they lost affected koestner. Team knew marty was their best player and he kept getting double covered: richard needed to dribble to foul line, and punish them by shooting there, because he was uncovered. He took 9 shots in first half and missed every single one. At half time he told coach, i"m terrible, i suck today. Kept shooting and kept missing: richard taken out of the game, for the rest of the year, he wasn"t starting player anymore, he got stage fright and sucked, his interest in basketball was pretty much shot. Show up and do what you need to do and leave. No room for awkwardness: personal investments; koestner says (-) because it could be experienced as external pressure. If you won, and no emphasis of control, then ps showed high intrinsic motivation. If you lost, you have very low intrinsic motivation.
