Document Summary
Itellectual property: anything that has value but isn"t physical. if you want to protect your rights to an invention, you shouldn"t keep it a secret (for example songs, novels ) We call it property because you can stop other people to use it, however if it is secret you cant stop them because they didn"t know you invented it. if you have copyright to a book you can stop infinite people of using it. The copyright act tells us that you have a copyrighe. You can sell a computer by the name of apple for example, it"s a trademark offence. You might be tasked in designing a new building, so there will be maps and thousands of drawings that have copyright trademarks. It is a bargain between the state/the public and the inventor. The stake is giving a temporary monopoly for disclosing the invention.
