Document Summary

A s s ig nm e nt # 6. Number of figures and tables (including handwriten ones): 7. Engineering problems often deal with more than one variable, problems that use bivariate data. Least square regression is a useful tool to determine relationships between bivariate data and can be used if there is a linear relationship between the dependent and independent value. It is used test hypothesis using equations and check if certain physical models pass these tests. In this lab, the strength of two steels in relation to its carbon content (weight %) is measured using regression, one with 0. 33wt % and the other with 1. 0wt %. The parameters will be determined using a linear-least square regression. The data given are examples of measured yield strength of diferent steels. The data is used to ind the correlaion coeicient and the coeicient of determinaion using staisical calculaions.
