Are a number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals. Use talents to collaborate and contribute to teams objective. Helpful when many different skills required, or task is too big for one person. Not helpful when there is little work to be done. Problem solving teams: meet regularly to discuss solutions. Might not have the authority to implement ideas. Self-managed team: perform highly related or interdependent jobs and take on may of the responsibilities of their former managers. Cross functional teams: made up from people from the same hierarchical levels but different work areas who come together to accomplish a task. Each individual would contribute knowledge of their field and ways to package them together in integrated fashion. Virtual teams: use technology to tie together physically dispersed members in order to achieve a common goal. Work independently, usually not to the same goal.
